Tottenham eyeing up a move for World Cup and Serie A star

With the January transfer window fast approaching, one club expected to be involved in this winter’s wheelings and dealings is Tottenham Hotspur.

With Antonio Conte at the helm, chairman Daniel Levy will be expected to invest in some squad reinforcements this winter, with one such target identified being Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot.

The Frenchman has been close on a switch to the Premier League in the past, looking odds on to join Manchester United last summer only for the deal to fall through owing to personal reasons.

Having been a vital cog in France’s World Cup exploits over the last month, Rabiot now looks a more desirable option than ever and at 27 is presumably in his prime.

But given that Spurs already have Pierre Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur, Oliver Skipp, and summer signing Yves Bissouma in their squad it could be argued they are well stocked in the middle of the park, however that doesn’t appear to put the Lilywhites off a move for the Frenchman.

Sporting Director Fabio Paratici has a track record of making Serie A signings for Spurs, with the aforementioned Bentancur arriving alongside Dejan Kulusevski and Cristian Romero within his time at the club and all now being regulars in Conte’s side.

Given Rabiot’s contract at Juventus expires this summer, Spurs are looking to make a cut-price move for the midfielder, with a fee in the region of £13.5m believed to be enough to prize him from Juventus this January.
