Lorient striker Kevin Gameiro, a reported summer transfer target for several Premiership clubs, has moved to rivals Paris Saint-Germain for a reported 11 million euro transfer fee. Gameiro, who was wanted by Arsenal, Newcastle and Sunderland amongst others, has put pen to paper a four year deal with PSG. The 11 million euro fee could rise to 15 in the future depending on the player’s performances.
Newcastle did have a bid for Gameiro accepted by Lorient, but the player had his heart set on a move to either PSG or Valencia and rejected the offer to move to Tyneside. His end decision to stay in France has sparked surprise as well- Valencia’s third placed finish last season ensured that they were guaranteed a spot in the group stages of the Champions League. Instead Gameiro will compete with PSG in the Europa League.
