Portsmouth have completed the signing of midfielder David Norris on a free transfer from Championship rivals Ipswich Town. Norris has in principle agreed to a deal with Pompey and will officially join his team mates on the South Coast on 1st July.
Norris joined Ipswich from Plymouth Argyle in 2008 and his consistent level of performances at Portman Road lead him to being appointed club captain. The Tractor Boys offered him a new two year extension but Norris rejected the offer as he wanted a three year deal. Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Hull City were all reportedly in the race to sign Norris but Pompey have managed to beat off competition from their league rivals to secure the midfielder’s signature.
Norris was Ipswich’s top scorer in all competitions during the 2010/11 season with eleven goals.
