According to reports from France, Spurs and Liverpool are among the clubs said to be interested in rising Dutch star Sven Botman. The young centre back has been integral to Lille’s fine run in Ligue 1 this season, with Les Dogues currently top of the table ahead of both Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain, and will reportedly cost somewhere around £40m.
Both Spurs and Liverpool have had defensive issues this season, with a lack of quality in their available CB options clearly showing in their recent struggles. Neither side appear to be really in the race for the title at the moment, and both suffered defeats this weekend against opponents they would normally have expected to beat. Serie A leaders Inter are also keeping tabs on the youngster’s progress.
Botman joined Lille from Ajax on a five-year deal in 2020, but has taken to the French league like a duck to water and his centre back partner, veteran Jose Fonte, has been very impressed with the youngster. A national cap for the Oranje seems to be a formality for the 21-year-old, who was called up to the senior Netherlands squad late last year.
