Liverpool have completed the signing of Scottish midfielder Charlie Adam from Blackpool. Adam, Blackpool’s captain last season in the Premier League, was one of the Tangerines’ standout players, scoring 12 times in 35 league appearances, but was unable to prevent them from being relegated to the Championship. The fee for Adam was not officially announced, but reports have it to be around £7.5m, capable of rising to £8m depending on appearances.
Adam becomes Kenny Dalglish’s second signing of the summer after young midfielder Jordan Henderson, whom the Reds acquired from Sunderland for £20 million.
Adam’s transfer brings an end to Liverpool’s six month chase for the former Rangers midfielder. The Reds showed interest in him in the January transfer window but were unable to reach an agreement with Blackpool as the two clubs differed over the transfer fee.
