Queens Park Rangers have made their first acquisition of the summer in the form of striker Jay Bothroyd. The former Arsenal forward has joined the Hoops on a free transfer after his contract with Cardiff City expired. Celtic and Everton were also interested in securing Bothroyd’s services, but the presence of manager Neil Warnock at QPR swung the transfer the Hoops’ way.
Bothroyd has signed a three year contract with QPR, who won the Championship last season and will play in the Premier League in the forthcoming 11-12 season alongside fellow new boys Swansea and Norwich.
Bothroyd has been capped by England at almost all youth levels and earned a single cap last season for the senior team under Italian manager Fabio Capello to become the Bluebird’s first ever England international player.
