Chelsea have completed the acquisition of Thibaut Courtois from Belgian outfit Genk. The 19 year old, whom Chelsea regard as a successor to Petr Cech, has signed a five year contract with the Blues. The transfer fee for Courtois was not officially revealed but reports have it to be somewhere around nine million euros, with Genk calling it the largest bid they have received for a player.
Courtois is expected to be loaned out by the Blues this season with Atletico Madrid looking a likely destination following their need for a keeper after the transfer of David de Gea.
Genk said they would have liked him to stay longer in Belgium but admitted that their hands were tied once Chelsea came in with a significant bid.
