Wolverhampton Wanderers are planning to take highly rated Liverpool youngster Jay Spearing on loan next season. Spearing was a regular in the Liverpool midfield during the latter half of the 10/11 season in the absence of Steven Gerrard but the return of the skipper from injury, plus the signings of Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam, may restrict his first team opportunities this season.
Spearing only recently signed a contract extension, thus showing that Liverpool do see a future for the diminutive midfielder at Anfield. Reds boss Kenny Dalglish will be keen to continue the youngster’s development and hence may agree to farm him out on loan.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy wants to strengthen his midfield options and views Spearing as the right candidate to shore up things in the centre of the park.
