Liverpool are reportedly weighing up a move for Aston Villa striker Darren Bent. The Reds are in the hunt for a striker in the January window following Luis Suarez’s lengthy suspension and Andy Carroll’s inability to find the back of the net. Bent, who has had a pretty average season so far by his standards, but is a proven goal scorer at Premier League level, is one of the targets being considered by Kenny Dalglish.
Villa are said to be loath to selling Bent, but Alex McLeish may consent to the transfer if the proceeds from Bent’s sale allow him to get in three or four quality players to strengthen Villa’s aim of finishing in the top ten this season.
