After failing to sign Aly Cissokho from Porto, AC Milan have turned their attention to Manchester United’s Patrice Evra and Corinthians’ Andre Santos as they aim to shore up their defence for the 2009-10 Italian season.
Evra has turned into Man United’s first choice left back after signing from Monaco for £5.5m in 2006. He has also been capped 20 times for the French national team.
Santos, part of Brazil’s 2009 Confederations Cup winning team, has no dearth of admirers. Champions League winners Barcelona were interested in him, but might cool their interest after landing Maxwell. Apart from Milan, Juventus, Roma and Fiorentina are also chasing the full back. There has also been talks of interest from France, but Santos is more likely to cross the Atlantic to move to either Spain or Italy. He has also stated that he “would be excited to go to Italy”. Juventus are however currently in pole position to sign Santos, according to unofficial reports.
