The Robin Van Persie transfer summer transfer saga seems to be coming to an end after Manchester United revealed that they had reached an agreement with the Gunners for the sale of the Dutch striker. Van Persie’s contract at the Emirates is due to expire next summer and he had made it clear that he would not be penning a new deal, thus forcing Arsene Wenger to listen to offers or risk him losing for nothing. United will reportedly pay the Gunners £22m, with the potential to rise to £24m.
Van Persie’s transfer will be the first direct one between United and Arsenal since Viv Anderson’s back in 1987. United faced competition from neighbours City and Italian giants Juventus for the Dutch forward’s signature.
Van Persie could make his debut for United as early as Monday, when they take on Everton in their first game of the season.
