Arsenal are in negotiations to sign Real Madrid playmaker Nuri Sahin on a season-long deal. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger sees the Turkish international as the perfect replacement for Alex Song, who has left the Gunners for Real’s bitter-rivals Barcelona.
Real are keen to offload the 23 year-old, but they are not willing to give the Gunners the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season, as they still believe that Sahin could develop into a top player.
However, Arsenal are keen to have the option of signing the midfielder on a permanent basis, if he impresses in their midfield. This could be a sticking point in the deal. Sahin has struggled to play regular football in Spain, after moving to the Bernabeu from German Bundesliga champions Dortmund last summer.
Arsenal are not the only English team believed to be keen on signing the Turkish star. Liverpool are also interested in acquiring his services
