A group of English clubs are believed to be interested in signing Estudiantes striker Mauro Boselli. The striker impressed in the Argentines Copa Libertadores success. The 24 year-old is a teammate of former Manchester United midfield maestro Juan Sebastien Veron, whose father won the Libertadores in three consecutive seasons.
The striker finished top scorer in the Libertadores with eight goals, scoring the winner against Brazilian side Cruzeiro. He also holds a Italian passport which means he doesn’t need a work permit to move to England. Sunderland and Blackburn were interested in the star, but have now signed alternatives.
Bolton, West Ham, Wigan and Hull City are set to fight it out for the former Boca Juniors ace. His English representative Barry McIntosh had this to say: “Mauro is one of the best strikers in Argentina and it is little surprise there is such interest in him,”
“We cannot go into details at this point, but a move before the transfer window shuts does look possible.”
One of the clubs interested in Boselli Hull City, have ruled themselves out of a move for Portsmouth striker David Nugent. Hull boss Phil Brown Had this to say:
“There are a number of players out there I believe will become Hull City players before the end of the window,”
“It has been bandied around for three or four weeks now and I have not made any approaches for David Nugent.”
