Norwich City have officially confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Angus Gunn from Southampton. The 25-year-old, son of Canaries legend Bryan, has inked a four-year deal that will keep him at Carrow Road till 2025. The transfer fee was undisclosed, but it is rumoured to be around the £2.5m mark, potentially rising to £5m with addons.
Gunn is Norwich’s second signing of the summer transfer window after Kosovo winger Milot Rashica from Werder Bremen. He will compete with Tim Krul for the starting keepers’ spot at Carrow Road, and his arrival is likely to pave the way for the exit of Norwegian stopper Orjan Nyland.
Gunn has had a previous season on loan at Norwich (2017-18) in which he made over 50 appearances across all competitions for the Canaries. He then joined Southampton on a permanent deal in 2018, but didn’t quite have the same level of success at St.Mary’s, only managing 30 appearances for them across 3 campaigns, and spent last season on loan at Stoke City.
Norwich will return to the Premier League in 2021/22 after winning the Championship last season. They finished with 97 points from 46 games, six more than their nearest rivals Watford.
