Hull sign McShane

Hull City have completed the signing of Paul McShane from Sunderland for a fee in the region of £2million. The 23 year-old spent part of last season on-loan at the KC Stadium. The Republic of Ireland international defender making 19 appearances for the Tigers.

The former West Brom star is currently out injured after undergoing an operation on a troublesome knee in July. He was expected to be out injured for up to three months, but hes ahead of schedule in his recovery and could soon make his debut.

Hull boss Phil Brown told Skysports.com: “I think he is well known and well liked – the heart-on-the-sleeve, never-say-die attitude whether he is wearing a Hull, Sunderland or Ireland shirt.

“He can only be an asset because of what he did in the first few months of last season.

“He then watched from afar his team-mates struggling to survive in the Premier League but now we have, I think that is one of the reasons why he wanted to come back.”

Hull could be close to selling defender Michael Turner. Sunderland are believed to close to agreeing a deal for the former Charlton trainee. Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is keen to sign the 25 year-old before the transfer deadline shuts on Tuesday.
