Gunners and Reds set to do battle over Sunderland keeper
Premier League Arsenal and Liverpool are set to fight it out for Sunderland keeper Simon Mignolet. The Merseysider’s are believed to be ready to offer £9million for the highly rated keeper. The Belgium international was one of the top performing keepers in the Premier League last season.
His performances have attracted interest from elsewhere. According to reports Arsenal are set to rival the Reds for Mignolet’s signature. The 25-year-old is believed to be looking for a move to boost his chances of playing for his country at next year’s World Cup in Brazil.
Arsenal are looking for a rival to youngster Wojciech Szczesny in-between the posts next season and Mignolet seems to be Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger’s preferred choice.
Liverpool have also reached an agreement with Celta Vigo to sign forward Iago Aspas for £7.7million. Aspas scored 12 goals in La Liga last season to help his team achieve survival on the last day of the season.
The former-Valencia ace is considered a talented, but temperamental player. Aspas is likely to give Reds boss Brendan Rodgers more attacking options, as Aspas can play as a left-winger or a central striker.
