Arsenal are now favourites with Sky Bet to sign Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain this summer from Spanish giants Real Madrid. Higuain has already told Los Blancos that he wants to leave the club after six years and Real are allowing him to exit the club.
A reported fee of £30million has been mooted, so the Gunners would have to break their transfer record to sign the talented striker. Higuain has been prolific in Spain, despite the fact that he has been unable to command a regular starting place in the Real Madrid line-up.
Arsenal could face a battle with Italian champions Juventus for the striker, but it seems that the Old Lady may have turned their attentions elsewhere in their hunt for a new striker.
Another striker whose future is unclear is Gunners striker Nicklas Bendtner. The Danish international spent last season on-loan ironically at Juventus, but failed to impress with the Italian side. The 25-year-olds future is now unknown.
Bendtner has a year left on his Arsenal contract, but is unlikely to be at the Emirates at the start of the new season.
