Arsenal are interested in signing Sevilla’s young French starlet Geoffrey Kondogbia. The 20-year-old put in a string of performances for Sevilla in the Spanish top-flight last season.
His displays attracted the interest of the likes of Spanish giants Real Madrid and Arsenal’s London rivals Chelsea. Real seemed to be keen on making a summer move for the defensive midfielder, but now seem to have turned their attention in the direction of Real Sociedad ace Asier Illarramendi.
It seems that Arsenal only competition for the youngster is Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea. The Blues are believed to be looking to strengthen their defensive midfield position, with John Obi Mikel being linked with a switch to Turkish side Galatasaray.
Arsenal have been frustrated in the transfer market so far this summer. The only new arrival at the Emirates this summer is young French striker Yaya Sanogo, who arrived on a free transfer after leaving Auxerre.
The Gunners have been linked with big money moves for the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Wayne Rooney, and more recently Liverpool star Luis Suarez, who the Gunners are reported to be interested in signing. The Reds are reported to have already turned down a £30million bid.
