Ipswich Town manager Roy Keane has revealed that he would be interested in bringing former Notts County defender Sol Campbell to Portman Road. The former England ace left Notts County this week after just one appearance and three weeks at the club.
Campbell will be ineligible to play till January due to league rules. Keane’s side have had a poor start to the season and the squad is in need of bolstering. The former United’s star priority is defensive reinforcements. Campbell could be a ideal signing to bolster his defensive options.
He revealed: “It’s a maybe. There will be plenty of interest in him, and if his contract was terminated I don’t think he can play before January. But like any player potentially becoming available who can improve us I am keeping tabs on the Campbell situation.”
Keane also admitted that he wasn’t surprised by Campbell’s decision to walk out on his County contract just a few weeks in saying:”I wasn’t really surprised,” he added. “I admire people who are brave enough to make a decision.
“There are a lot of players up and down the country who are happy to sit on their contracts and pick up the money.”
