Arsenal full-back Gael Clichy has told the press that he wants to concentrate on Arsenal despite interest from La Liga side Real Madrid. Its been reported in the press that Real chiefs feel that the French ace is a good option for Real’s troublesome left-back position.
Reports even suggest that Gael Clichy’s representatives have already been contacted by Real officials about a potential switch to the Bernabeu next summer. Real are still looking to recruit new players despite their massive layout this summer.
Clichy himself has done his best to try to discourage talk of a move but has refused to completely rule out a move in the near future. He told the News of the World: “At the moment I am focused on Arsenal and France,”
“This season could be very important to me and I desire to be focused in my work. The summer of 2010 is still very far away.”
The player has been at Arsenal since he was a teenager and replaced Ashley Cole at left-back when the England star left for Chelsea. He’s established himself as one of the best full-backs in Europe and at 24 unbelievably is one of the more senior players in a very young Arsenal squad.
