Sheffield United sign Camara

Championship Sheffield United have signed former Wigan striker Henri Camara till the end of the season. The Senegal international spent four years with the Latics but left the club in the summer after his contract expired. He has struggled to find a new club and failed to earn a contract at Hull during a trial in the summer.

The Blades boss Kevin Blackwell has expressed his delight at Camara’s capture. He told the clubs official website: “At a time when we have got so many players out through injury, he will bring plenty of experience and a bit of quality to the squad. He is a proven goalscorer and although he will take a bit of time to get fit, he will be able to give us cameo roles from the bench to begin with.”

The player himself revealed: “I am keen to play and score goals and although I am lacking a bit of match fitness I am confident that I can make a difference.

“I wanted to stay in England, I have played a lot of my football over here and I like it. This is a good move for me and I am desperate to get playing and be involved again. I have signed until the end of the season and if all goes well I’d hope that can be made longer.”
