Wolverhampton Wanderers have moved to make Jonny Otto’s loan stay at Molineux into a permanent one. The 24 year old was on loan at the Premier League club during the first half of the season and impressed club officials enough for them to initiate talks with parent club Atletico Madrid over a permanent switch.
The two clubs have agreed a fee of around £18m, with Jonny signing a contract that will keep him at the Midlands outfit till 2023. With this switch, Jonny also becomes the club’s joint record signing, equaling the fee they paid Middlesbrough for Adama Traore.
The versatile Jonny has started 20 Premier League games for Wolves this season. He’s primarily played on the left wing but has also slotted on the right when required, and it’s this versatility, along with his performances, that has endeared him to Wolves fans.
Jonny joined Atleti from Celta Vigo, but did not play a single game for Los Rojiblancos, moving almost immediately to Wolves on loan. His stint at Molineux has also earned him international honours for Spain at senior level.
Wolves are currently 7th in the league table and will square off against Everton at Goodison Park this weekend.
