Arsene Wenger has admitted that its going to be difficult to buy a striker in the January transfer window. However he has revealed that hes interested in Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko and also has a long standing interest in Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh.
The French coach needs to buy a striker due to main striker Robin Van Persie picking up a long term injury a few weeks ago. The Dutchman could miss the rest of the season and it leaves the Gunners light in attack.
He has not admitted that his options are limited. “Let’s not dream too much,” he said.
“In January you need to find a world-class player, who has not played in the Champions League, so we need a very good Christmas. I am not a big fan of January, that’s why I say I will be on the market but that doesn’t mean that I will buy. To find the players who have not played in the Champions League, who are world-class, who are available, I wish you good luck.”
On Dzeko he revealed: “I like the player. But they fly too high right now – price-wise.”
Wenger also doesnt believe Bordeux will sell Chamakh saying:
“He is not available, their [Bordeaux’s] chairman says that,”
“They are top of their group in the Champions League. Why should they sell him now?” They will not get a lot of money [because he is out of contract in the summer]. How for their fans can they sell one of their best players in the middle of the season when they are in an excellent position?”
