Premier League Burnley have revealed that they are close to signing French striker Frederic Nimani from Monaco. The striker has been capped by his country at under-21 level and Burnley are close to completing his loan signing, with a view to making the move permanent next summer.
Burnley are believed to have beaten off competition from numerous Premier League clubs for the big striker. The youngster is set to become Brian Laws first signing as the clubs boss and the deal is expected to be completed in the next few days.
Laws told the clubs official website: “Quite clearly there is a huge interest and we are trying to do something within the next 24 hours,”
“However, until he signs he is not our player and there’s not much more we can discuss.
“We want to try to strengthen the team and while I am prioritising other areas, if there’s an opportunity we can’t miss then we will nip in.”
Burnley are also looking to make David Nugent’s loan transfer from Portsmouth permanent. Their chances of signing the England cap have improved due to the state of Pompey’s finances. A bid in the region of £2million is believed to be enough to persuade crisis club Portsmouth to sell.
