Championship outfit Bournemouth have confirmed the arrival of Freddie Woodman on loan from Newcastle United. The 24-year-old goalkeeper will be at the Vitality Stadium till the end of the current 2021/22 season.
Former Magpies boss Steve Bruce was reluctant to let Woodman leave last summer owing to an injury to Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow suffering from Covid, but new Magpies boss Eddie Howe feels he has enough depth in the goalkeeping department and has sanctioned a move for Woodman to gain more first team experience.
Bournemouth will be the 6th club that Woodman has had a loan spell at since joining Newcastle- Hartlepool United, Crawley Town, Kilmarnock, Aberdeen and Swansea are the other five.Woodman has extensive Championship experience- he made over fifty appearances across all competitions for the Swans last season. He has also been capped by England at various youth levels from U15 to U21 and was part of their 2017 U20 World Cup winning squad.
Bournemouth are currently third in the Championship, six points behind leaders Fulham. They’re a point behind second placed Blackburn but have a game in hand over Rovers. Their next game is against Boreham Wood in the FA Cup, followed by a league clash at home against Birmingham City.
