Marcel Sabitzer in Potential Spurs Switch

Tottenham are hopeful of securing a permanent deal for RB Leipzig’s wonderful midfielder Marcel Sabitzer.

The interest is said to be mutual, according to respected Bundesliga journalist Christian Falk.
Sabitzer earns 6 million euros a year and his current contract runs until 2022.

The uncompromising wage structure in place at RB Leipzig would make it extremely difficult for the club to offer him an increased salary.

He is already the club’s highest earner and will be well aware that, with top European clubs circling, he will be able to make more elsewhere.

The 44-time Austria international has been with RB Leipzig since 2014, playing just shy of 194 matches and scoring 43 goals — an impressive return for a player in his position.

In that time, he has seen his club rise from the second-tier of German football, challenge for the Bundesliga title and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

There are whisperings of a title challenge at Spurs this season, with Jose Mourinho’s pedigree sure to attract a better calibre of player to that which they have become accustomed.

Sabitzer’s dynamism, his work rate and his tactical discipline would make him the perfect Jose Mourinho player and could completely transform their midfield.
