Several notable European clubs are in the race for Demarai Gray, with Portuguese giants Benfica and Serie A outfit Roma reportedly amongst those interested in signing the Leicester City star. The winger’s current contract at the King Power Stadium expires in the summer, and he is yet to pen a new deal, meaning that he can leave on a free at the end of the season.
Gray joined Leicester from Birmingham City in 2016 in the winter of 2016, with the Foxes activating a release clause in his Blues contract. He averaged nearly 40 appearances a season throughout the 16/17, 17/18 and 18/19 campaigns, but has however been restricted to only one Premier League appearance in 2020/21-coming off the bench in a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace a few days ago.
Leicester would ideally prefer to cash in on Gray in the current winter window rather than let him go on a free in the summer, but would be powerless to do anything should the winger choose to move to the continent.
The 24-year-old Gray has been capped by England at various youth levels and was also part of their U21 European Championships squad back in 2019.
