Following the sacking of Thomas Tuchel from the position of Paris Saint-Germain manager, Mauricio Pochettino was immediately considered and later confirmed as the new manager of the French outfit. Although no major additions are expected in the January transfer window, one player in particular is on the verge of joining PSG.
Tottenham midfielder Delle Alli is finding himself on the fringes of the first team under Jose Mourinho and with only four appearances in the Premier league, a transfer seems imminent. After a solid 2019/2020 season, during which Alli scored eight goals in the Premier league, he finds himself out of favor and new addition Pierre-Emilie Hojbjerg preferred in his position, Alli is forced to look elsewhere for play-time. Spurs’s owner Daniel Levy is hoping for a big transfer fee for his player, after already refusing three transfer offers during the summer for the 24-year old. Under contract until 2024, a loan move seems more likely rather than a permanent one.
Mourinho is already well known in alienating star players upon his arrival, which he already did with Iker Casillas at Real Madrid, Juan Mata /Pogba at Manchester United and Zlatan Ibrahimović at Inter Milan. Delle Alli is facing the same fate right now and there seems to be no way back for the England international. He also made a few appearances in the Europa league, where he proved his worth by scoring two goals.
PSG have one of the most crowded midfield line in the world of football, with two or three players in each position regularly competing for the place in the first team. Delle Alli could fit in the playmaker role or a number eight and Pochettino can clearly get the best of him in the next six months, at least. With three more weeks until the end of the transfer window, PSG will need to push harder to snap up Delle Alli.
