The Mirror has reported that European champions Barcelona are set to test Arsenal with a £40m bid for their captain Cesc Fabregas.
Arsenal signed Fabregas from the Catalan giants when he was a youngster for just £750,000.
Should they agree to sell him for £40m, the Gunners will reap massive returns. Do the maths yourself-
£40m-£0.75m/£0.75m *100 is your return on Fabregas in pure transfer fee terms. Isn’t that figure staggering?
Whether to sell Fabregas or not will be a tough decision for Wenger to take. The captain still has his best years ahead of him, and he is, in the eyes of many people, one of the people Wenger must retain if Arsenal are to get some more silverware in their cabinet.
Fabregas has professed his loyalty to his current employers, but even he will be delighted to get a chance to play alongside Xavi and Iniesta, two of the best midfielders in the world currently.
£40m might test Wenger’s resolve, given that his rumoured transfer kitty this summer is just one fourth of that amount.
