Manchester City, fuelled by Arab billions, are set to launch a massive £42 million raid for Carlos Tevez and Gareth Barry. But they face stiff competition on both fronts.
Carlos Tevez has a very complicated contract which runs till 30 June. His owner, Kia Joorabchian has close ties with Manchester City as he helped broker the Robinho and Jo deals from Real Madrid and CSKA Moscow repectively. City are one of the many clubs matching Kia’s £32 million valuation of Tevez and have promised the South American regualr first team football alongwith a massive £150,000 per week pay. The Argentine striker’s representative Kia Joorabchian is set to hold one last meeting with United officials this week as the former West Ham forward’s two-year loan agreement reaches its end.
Gareth Barry has just one year left on his current contract and Villa want to cash in on him to avoid running the risk of losing him on a Bosman at the end of the season. Manchester City are confident to land him for £10 million with wages of £90,000 per week. Their main competitiors are Tottenham;Barry’s favorite club. But they would not be able to match City in the wages offered.
