Joe Allen has completed his move to Liverpool, thus making him new manager Brendan Rodgers’ second major signing of the summer after Roma’s Fabio Borini. Liverpool reportedly activated the £15m release clause in Allen’s contract, but Rodgers revealed that he would have gladly paid more for a man of his ability, likening him to a “Spanish footballer”
Allen is a product of the Swansea youth system and has been with the club for all of his short professional career, barring a short stint on loan with Wrexham.
He has represented Wales at national level and was also part of the Great Britain squad that lost in the quarterfinals of the London Olympics on penalties to South Korea.
