Arsenal are close to completing the signing of young striker Joel Campbell, the Costa Rican player’s club president has revealed. Saprissa honcho Juan Roja made the announcement in an interview to a local radio channel, saying that an $1.5m fee had been agreed between the two clubs.
Only personal terms and a work permit remain in the way of Campbell’s potential transfer to the Emirates Stadium. While Campbell has not played in 75% of his country’s games over the last few years ( a requirement for non EU work permit in the UK), he is expected to apply for a special talent visa to bypass the same.
Campbell represented Costa Rica in the recently concluded CONCACAF Gold Cup and Copa America tournaments.
