According to the Sunday Mirror, Arsenal have made a £20million bid for wantaway Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney. The England striker handed in a transfer request towards the end of last season and his future at Old Trafford is in doubt.
United boss David Moyes officially takes up his role on Monday. The Scot is expected to hold talks with the striker about his future and attempt to get the striker to sign a new contract with the Red Devils.
Arsenal is not the only club that have been linked with the England international though. Spanish champions Barcelona have been heavily linked with a £25million summer move for Rooney, despite the fact that the Catalan giants have already snapped up Brazilian superstar Neymar from Santos this summer.
A player that looks set to leave the Emirates is keeper Vito Mannone. The Italian youngster is close to sealing a move to Premier League rivals Sunderland. The 25-year-old has endured a frustrating time in north London with Polish keeper Wojciech Szczesny considered the undisputed number one.
Mannone is likely to get more first team football in the north east, after the Black Cats sold their number one keeper Simon Mignolet to Liverpool.
