Arsenal are being linked with a move for Swansea centre-back Ashley Williams. The 28 year-old Welsh international has played a key success in Swansea’s two seasons in the top flight and is now attracting interest from some higher-profile clubs.
Williams is also being linked with a move to Liverpool, despite the fact that he has recently signed a contract extension which will tie the Welshman to the Liberty Stadium until 2015. Swansea boss Michael Laudrup wants his star defender to stay and is hoping that the prospect of playing in the Europa League with the Swans will persuade Williams to stay put.
A player that doesn’t look likely to be at the Emirates Stadium is Switzerland international Johan Djourou. The centre-back is currently on-loan at Bundesliga Hannover and would be happy to make it a permanent stay.
Djourou’s agent is set to hold talks with the Bundesliga outfit and Arsenal about where his clients’ future lies. It looks unlikely that he has a key role to play for Arsene Wengers’ side, as he made just two appearances this season.
With the likely arrival of more defenders at the Emirates this summer it unlikely that Djourou stay in north London will last much longer.
