Arsenal are said to have inched closer to the signing of former legend Thierry Henry after offering the French striker a two month loan deal. According to widespread reports, Arsene Wenger made the offer to Henry in order to bolster his striking departments, which will be severely weakened by the departure of Marouane Chamakh and Gervinho to the 2012 African Cup of Nations.
Arsenal have almost been a one man show upfront this season, with Dutch forward Robin Van Persie shouldering the vast majority of the striking burden. South Korean Park Chu-Young is also available, but Wenger has not yet deemed him ready for regular first team action.
Henry is currently contracted to the New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer.
