Arsenal have officially completed the signing of Gervinho from French club Lille OSC. The Ivorian forward becomes Arsene Wenger’s first signing of the summer window and has switched clubs for a reported £11m fee.
Gervinho captained Ivory Coast at the 2008 Olympics and caught the eye of several major European clubs with his performances last season for Lille that helped the North French club to a league and Cup double.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger however announced that Gervinho would not be part of the Gunners’ pre-season Asia tour as he was yet to train with the London club.
Before signing for Lille, Gervinho had previously represented Belgian club Beveren and French outfit Le Mans in his professional career.
