On a frantic final transfer deadline day, Arsenal completed the signings of Yossi Benayoun and Mikel Arteta and loaned out Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner to Sunderland. Israeli medio Benayoun has moved on loan from Chelsea while Arteta has transferred from Everton for a reported £10m. Arteta has put pen to paper a four year deal at the Emirates.
Danish striker Bendtner becomes Sunderland’s 11th signing of the summer and becomes the third striker to arrive at the Stadium of Light in the current window after Dong Ji Won and Connor Wickham. The Black Cats had originally wanted to take Peter Crouch from Tottenham but turned to Bendtner after failing to land the former.
