After losing out to Juventus in the race to sign Fiorentina medio Juventus, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is now contemplating a move for Valencia midfielder Ever Banega. Banega joined Valencia from his native Boca Juniors in 2008 for 18 million euros, but struggled to settle at the Mestalla, and was sent out on loan to Atletico Madrid for the 2008-09 season.
Banega recently made public his desire not to return to Valencia, and stated that he would prefer to stay at Atletico. Sources say Valencia are ready to sell him, with Lazio expressing interest in a season long loan deal with the option to sign him permanently ar the end of it. Ligue 1 champions Marseille are also in the fray for the Argentine, who was part of the country’s U-20 2007 World Cup winning team.
