Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack has re-signed for his former club Bayer Leverkusen on a two-year contract. The German international star was released by Chelsea and has decided to opted for a move back to his former club Leverkusen.
Ballack was linked to a number of top European clubs, but has decided to return to Bayer where he previously spent three years there before leaving for Bayern Munich in 2002.
Ballack joined Chelsea in 2006 and won the FA Cup and League Cup, in his first season. He was Injured for most of the 2007 season but helped Chelsea reach the Champions League Final in the following season.
33 year old Ballack is looking forward to playing for his former club again.
“With my transfer to Bayer Leverkusen a circle is complete,” Ballack told the club’s official website.
