City stole a march on it’s competitors in the race for the signature of Inter Milan’s teenage striker Mario Balotelli. Manchester City have reported agreed a £24 million deal with Inter president Massimo Moratti with an added £5 million to be based on appearances and performances. The player has reportedly agreed to a five-year £65,000-a -week contract.
Mario Baruwah Balotelli made his debut for the Nerrazuri back in 2007. Since then he has scored 28 goals in 86 appearances in all competitions. The man who gave Balotelli his break was none other than Manchester City’s current manager – Roberto Mancini. Balotelli thrived under the tutelage of the assured Italian. His form took a battering under the guidance of Mourinho. Mancini sounded positive about City’s chances of signing Balotelli, “Mario has two qualities that suit us: his talent and his age, because I want people able to build a cycle at Manchester City. He (Balotelli) is one of the four or five strikers that interest us. I was the first to believe in him and I’m convinced about what he can do, ” Mancini said.
Balotelli would become City’s fifth signing of the season after Boateng, Yaya Toure, Silva and Kolarov and would take their summer spending to well over £100 million.
