Championship side Barnsley have signed Stoke City defenders Ryan Shotton and Carl Dickinson on three-month long loan deals. The duo are highly rated in the Potteries and will receive valuable first team football at Oakwell.
Dickinson has already made 60 games for Stoke and will looking to use this opportunity to play some games and make the breakthrough in to the Stoke team when he returns. He has also had loan spells at Leeds United in League One and at one of Barnsley Championship rivals Blackpool.
Shotton has also had experience of going out on loan the young full-back spent last season at Tranmere. The previous season he also had a loan spell at fellow North West side Altringham. The two new signings are likely to go straight in to the Tykes squad for their difficult away trip to QPR.
New Tykes boss Mark Robins is looking to pull the club out of the Championship relegation zone after he took over from former manager Simon Davey who was dismissed earlier this month. He enjoyed a solid spell at Yorkshire rivals Rotherham and is a highly rated young English coach. The ex-Manchester United star has had a decent run so far and his new club defeated Premier League Burnley 3-2 at Oakwell in the Carling Cup third round.
