Barnsley have signed Suad Filekovic on a short-term contract. The Slovenia has signed after undergoing at trial at the Tykes and impressing new boss Mark Robins. The 31 year-old defender was on trial under former boss Simon Davey before Robins arrival but he impressed the ex-Rotherham boss enough to secure a short-term deal with a view to a longer one.
Filekovic arrives at Oakwell on a free transfer from NK Maribor from his native Slovenia. He could make his debut on Saturday against QPR if he receives international clearance.
Barnsley’s fellow Championship side Sheffield United have taken strikers Henri Camara and Fabrice Pancrate on trial and the pair are appearing for the Blades reserve side against city Sheffield Wednesday. Camara spent the end of last season on loan at Stoke City. He was then released by Wigan and failed to impress on trial at Hull in the summer. The Senegal international is now hoping to secure a Permanent deal at Bramall Lane.
French striker Fabrice Pancrate was released by Paris St Germain at the end of the season and is also available on a free transfer. The 29 year-old has also had spells with Real Betis in Spain and Sochaux in his homeland in recent seasons.
