West Ham are set to complete a £4million deal for Mexico winger Pablo Barrera subject to the 23-year old getting a work permit. The player has signed a two year deal with the Hammers with an option to extend his contract by another year. The winger made 85 appearances for his previous club – Pumas UNAM – and scored eighteen times. Barrera was delighted at joining the London club and was eager to get started – “I’m starting to get very anxious about travelling to England so I can join my new team, know my team-mate, the stadium, the city – everything.” he said.
West Ham intend to follow up this signing with a deal for French international striker Loic Remy. Avram Grant is closing in on a £12million swoop for the pacy Nice forward after the marksman encouraged West Ham to go ahead with the bid. A bid of £11.2m was turned down two weeks ago but that has not deterred the West Ham management. David Sullivan reportedly flew to Nice yesterday to complete the deal. West Ham will have to fend off interest from Liverpool, Arsenal and Lyon for the player dubbed as the new Thierry Henry!
