Bayern Munich have stepped up their chase of Chelsea’s Portugese full back Jose Bosingwa. Bayern are set to make a £15million bid for him and expect Chelsea to clear the path for the transfer. Bayern’s general manager Uli Hoeness had publicly voiced his desire to get Bosingwa to Germany by saying that the Premier League star was Bayern’s only option for the right back slot. Bosingwa signed for Chelsea from Porto for £16.3m and has played 34 games for the Blues, scoring only twice.
Hoeness said –
‘We need a strong, experienced defender on the right side, especially if we use Ribery in a more offensive role, as is being considered. ‘We want only Bosingwa and have no interest in any other player for this position. Chelsea agreed to give us a signal after the Community Shield that they were ready to talk and we are waiting for contact from them.’
The Bosingwa move looks unlikely because Chelsea have already loaned out their second choice right back. England starlet Michael Mancienne has joined newly promoted side Wolves on loan till December. Mancienne played 10 games for Wolves last season on loan before being called back to play for the Chelsea senior team. Wolves boss Mick McCarthy expects to have Mancienne, 21, available for Saturday’s Premier League opener at home to West Ham.
