According to reports from Germany, Bayern Munich have joined the race for Declan Rice, with Thomas Tuchel viewing the West Ham skipper as an ideal addition to the Bavarian giants’ midfield. The 24-year-old’s current deal at the London Stadium runs till the end of the 2023/24 season, although the Hammers do have an option to extend it by a further 12 months.
Rice, named Hammer of the Year for 2022/23, has helped his side reach the final of the Europa Conference League, where they will lock horns against Italian side Fiorentina in Prague.
Apart from Bayern, the England international has already attracted attention from the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea. The Gunners appear to be current favourites, with their current project under Mikel Arteta widely considered to be a good fit for Rice. Chelsea are his boyhood club, although their inability to offer Champions League football might count against the Blues.
The 24-year-old Rice has already racked up close to 250 appearances for West Ham, and will cement his place in club history if he lifts the Conference League trophy in Prague next month. He has also been capped over 40 times for England at international level.
