Bayern Munich are said to be interested in Arsenal youngster Xavier Amaechi. The 18 year old is regarded as one of the Gunners’ brightest youth prospects, and is contracted to them till 2020.
Bayern scouts were present at Arsenal U23’s latest game against Swansea, where Amaechi helped the Gunners come from 2-0 down to secure a point. The Bavarians are of the opinion that Amaechi could replicate the success of Jadon Sancho, the Man City youth product who has become a first team regular at Borussia Dortmund despite being just a teenager himself.
Amaechi, who primarily operates on the right flank, is rumoured to be as fast as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. He is yet to make a senior appearance for the Gunners, with injury preventing him from debuting in the Europa League, where manager Unai Emery has blooded several of his team-mates.
Arsenal currently have Emile Smith Rowe (RB Leipzig) and Reiss Nelson (Hoffenheim) on loan in the German top flight and the increasing English presence in the Bundesliga may play a role in helping Amaechi move to the continent.
Bayern were heavily linked with Chelsea’s Callum-Hudson Odoi in the recently concluded winter transfer window, but had their bids, including one as high as £35m, rejected by the Blues.
