UEFA Champions League finalists FC Bayern have become the latest club to be linked with soon to be free agent Kasper Schmeichel. Kasper, the son of former Manchester United great Peter, will leave Notts County by mutual consent at the end of this season despite having four years left on his contract with the club.
Schmeichel rose through the ranks at Manchester City and had several loan spells before joining Notts County in August last year. He was an integral part of the Magpies squad that won the 2009/10 League Two Trophy and kept a clean sheet in more than half the games that he stood under the sticks. He was the highest paid player at Notts County- earning close to a million pounds a year.
Schmeichel has also been linked with a move to Birmingham City, Derby County and West Bromwich Albion. Reports last month also linked Arsenal with a shock move for him in the summer.
