Swiss international midfielder Valon Behrami is all set to quit West Ham United and return to the Serie A. AS Roma and Fiorentina have shown interest signing the 25-year old. Behrami moved to West Ham from Lazio in 2008. His time at West Ham has been marred by injuries and he has failed to settle into the English game.
AS Roma have been keeping tabs on Valon for a long time. Claudio Ranieri has been trying to take him to Roma since summer, but he has had to work under a lot of financial constraints. Ranieri needs to sell before he buys. The sale of Julio Baptista to Malaga has helped raise £2 million. West Ham are looking for a fee of £4.5 million for Behrami. Ranieri is willing to listen to offers for Philippe Mexes, David Pizarro, Matteo Brighi, Stefano Okaka as he looks to raise money to reshape his squad.
Sinisa Mihajlovic’s Fiorentina have no such financial constraints and are better placed to hijack Behrami’s Roma move. Fiorentina can do business upfront for a permanent deal whereas Roma would be interested in a loan move.
