Portuguese side SL Benfica have completed the signing of Ezequiel Garay from Real Madrid. The Argentine defender has been snapped up by Benfica for an undisclosed fee. No details regarding contract length were disclosed by either Real Madrid or Benfica.
Garay started his career with Newell’s Old Boys before crossing the Atlantic to join Racing Santander in 2005. After three years with the Cantabrian oufit, he opted for a switch to Real Madrid in 2008.
Under Jose Mourinho, playing time for Garay at Real became severely restricted last season. He made a total of only eight appearances for Los Blancos in the 10/11 season.
Garay will join his new team mates at Benfica from Argentina, where he is currently representing his nation at Copa America 2011.
