Ecuadorean defender Ulises de la Cruz has earned himself a one month contract at Birmingham City after a successful trial. De La Cruz has been a free agent after he was released by Reading last summer. He can play in midfield as well as defence, and has been capped 98 times for Ecuador.
De La Cruz is the third defender to join the Blues on a short team deal, the other two recent signings being Djimi Traore and Stephen Carr.
The veteran defender could make his debut for Alex McLeish’s side in their Championship game against Bristol City at home on Wednesday night.
